Second Harvest rescues fresh food (that's otherwise destined for the landfill) and delivers it hundreds of non-profit organizations that feeds the hungry. The challenge is to raise awareness while clearly explaining that Second Harvest doesn't need your left-over lasagna - they need your money. The first charity program we developed was for "Lunch Money Day" - where we ask people to donate what they would normally spend on lunch to Second Harvest. We used the concept of 'food abuse' as the starting point to raise awareness.
